To secure aircraft handling operation during the G8 summit conference at Heiligendamm / Germany, towbarless aircraft towing tractors – Aircraft Mover – of GHH Fahrzeuge GmbH were selected by Rostock Airport Authorities. These tractors had to guarantee the trouble-free handling of all VIP aircraft of presidents and other guests.

Two Aircraft Movers, an AM350 and an AM500, were provided by GHH Fahrzeuge together with TCR Rental Service and a crew of KLM to perform this task.

These tractors were responsible for safe operation during aircraft departure of the president’s aircraft of the United States of America, Canada, France, Italy, Great Britain, People’s Republic of China and Japan as well as the Commonwealth of Independent States and all aircraft of their escorts.

Main criteria of the mission for these towbarless aircraft tractors were versatility, quick execution of pick-up and release operation as well as fast towing and eminently the safe handling of aircraft. These criteria were met by the AM350 and AM500 in an excellent manner. Especially the demand for handling different aircraft types in a very short period of time was achieved perfectly.

The first-time handling of the United States president’s aircraft “AIR FORCE ONE" by a towbarless towing tractor was an extraordinary highlight of the mission.

The aircraft range handled by the AM350 comprises aircraft models starting with A320 / B737 up to and including A330 / B777, the AM500 range covers wide-body aircraft like A300/310 through B747.

Aircraft Movers of GHH Fahrzeuge are characterised by their spacious designed cabin with the centralized, turnable cockpit ensuring comfortable and optimal operation to the driver with an optimum view to the work area. It results in a high degree of safety during pick-up, release and towing operations with aircraft.
