The new generation of LHDs from GHH Fahrzeuge, Germany, the LF-10/11, which is a completely new design in terms of size, shape, technology and productivity, is equipped with the new GHH drive line concept EDS. GHH Fahrzeuge has developed a 11t LHD in the shape of a ten ton machine with the highest breakout force of 192 kN in its class due to highly productive mines, the demand for less operation costs and for environmental reasons.
This new generation of GHH Loaders combines all advantages from both drive systems, hydraulic and mechanic, in one new system, the so called ”Efficient Drive System”. This proven concept, developed and in operation on the lowest LHD in the 12t class (SLP12, overall height 1650mm) gives our customers magnificent savings in fuel consumption, maintenance and has satisfied in its field operation with its extremely high breakout force (LF-9.3E/LF-17E/LF-10/11). The successful introduction of the EDS in underground mining conditions has convinced our customers for the past 3,000 operating hours and the successful story continues.
The LF-10/11 with a total weight of 41.000 kg and a heaped bucket capacity of 4.5 to 5.5 m³ is designed for rough underground mining and tunnelling conditions and gets its power, reliability and productivity from a Cummins QSL9 engine. This engine with a power of 209 kW, is EPA Tier 3/Com III emissions certified and provides high productivity and reliability with low fuel consumption, low exhaust fumes and low noise.
The power of the Cummins engine is transmitted hydraulically to a pump and an axle distribution gear box, and then transformed into mechanical energy and lead to rigid Posi Stop axles with differentials. This concept delivers 98% efficiency and is able to reduce the operation costs to an absolute minimum. No more maintenance on the friction brake and also less tyre wear, because of automatic speed control and fuel savings up to 20% are possible with this kind of modern concept. The LF-10/11 with EDS and automatic speed control enables an automatic adjustment to the tractive effort demands and allows quick travel response and aggressive drive into the muck pile.
The LF-10/11 is equipped with Can Bus and data logger system which sends machine and operation data via a wireless connection to a stand alone computer. These data are being collected by GHH service teams for analysis and for extension of the LHD lifetime.
The new, ROPS/FOPS tested cabin is designed in compliance with the latest ergonomic standards in the world. The cabin fulfils all requirements concerning noise and vibration levels for underground vehicles and construction equipment. For easy handling and short distance loading, the LF-10/11 is equipped with a direction change switch which is integrated in the steering joysticks.
The new GHH Loader LF-10/11 meets all requirements which are given at present of a modern, powerful, highly sophisticated and efficient LHD in terms of easy handling, low maintenance, low operation costs and high productivity.
